Henri Steenkamp is the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Saratoga Investment Corp as well as Saratoga Investment Advisors, LLC, the Company’s investment adviser. He is also a Director of the Company.

A rising star in the sector from an early age, Henri Steenkamp strives to further establish himself as a thoughtful, knowledgeable and influential executive in the sector through his foresight and leadership.
With a focus on leveraged and management buyouts, recapitalizations, debt refinancing, growth financing, acquisition financing and more, Saratoga typically invests $5 to $30 million in a given portfolio company. Steenkamp brings a keen level of insight and career accolades that joins Saratoga’s diverse and experienced team of leaders. In doing so, Steenkamp embodies the service of Saratoga that provides customized solutions to U.S. middle-market businesses.
In addition to serving as Saratoga’s CFO and CCO, Steenkamp also serves as Treasurer and Secretary. In this role, he leads analytical processes for dividend policy, projections, cash flow and cost of capital. He provides recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors throughout the process – keeping the CEO, President and Directors of Saratoga equipped with essential decision-making statistics.
Henri Steenkamp is a native to South Africa, while calling the New York area his home today with his wife Natasha. In 1998, Steenkamp graduated cum laude from the University of Johannesburg with a degree in financial accounting. Though he calls the United States his home, Steenkamp remains an avid supporter of his first home. After graduating from the University of Johannesburg, Steenkamp joined the audit division at PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Africa, where he spent the next four years in a series of roles that furthered his accounting and management acumen. Moving to the U.S. in the early 2000s, Steenkamp transitioned into transaction services at PwC, serving as Manager before ascending to Director during his four years in the New York City branch of PwC. During this period, he led numerous capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and other such transactions–ensuring compliance with all US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC requirements.
In 2006, Steenkamp accepted MF Global’s head of external reporting and accounting policy position–leading to a successful tenure as Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. With oversight for finance and accounting teams in excess of 200 employees, he led MF Global’s budgeting, forecasting, reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts across more than a dozen countries. Additionally, he held a position on the board of SIFMA’s Financial Management Society while at MF Global.
Henri Steenkamp’s early success earned him a place on Treasury & Risk’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2011.
The extent of Steenkamp’s industry leadership and expertise became evident during his brief stint as CFO for MF Global. There, he navigated through bankruptcy and provided critical leadership in the midst of adverse circumstances. Today, Steenkamp serves as an integral member of the executive team at Saratoga, where he works on an array of regulatory, operational and strategic matters for the publicly traded investment corporation.
